Our Story
It’s a real tear-jerker (not really).
This is the literal story of how Enscored came to be.
Once upon a Friday night in July 2025, my partner and I had gone to see a show at a cosy, tucked-away local venue.
After the two (brilliant) acts – ‘Joan Cooper Snark’ and ‘The Moon Pact Trial’ – had finished, we were chatting to them outside.
Pete from The Moon Pact Trial was telling us a funny little story about a heckler he’d had once, who eventually had to be kicked out and then subsequently left him a bad review.
“Oh, where was that?” I asked.
“Up in Edinburgh last year at the Fringe it was.” Pete replied.
“Noo, no, I mean, where did they leave the review?”
“Oh, I think it was just an Instagram comment or DM to be honest.”
“Right… well, is there somewhere we could go now to leave you a review about tonight?” I asked, with something like Google Reviews or TrustPilot for performers in mind.
“No, actually… I don’t think there is anything like that. That I know of, anyway.” he said.
Joan Cooper Snark agreed.
“Hm, that’s weird,” I pondered out loud. “There really should be.”
And so, an idea was sparked, and Enscored was born!
I’d built a few websites for friends and family in the past. So, after a few Google searches on things I didn’t know how to do yet and some general note-making, I started building!
As I was going along, I realised we could do more than just be a place to leave reviews. Those reviews could help artists in their marketing, grow their audiences and sell more tickets. Meaning they could keep doing what they do and bring more art into the world. Something we need more than ever these days, when the world can sometimes feel so dark. Art is good for the soul; whether it’s theatre, poetry, music or anything else or in between. And Enscored could help people find new art and artists, too.
So, a few weeks and a good amount of head scratching later, we’re ready to roll! And now it’s your turn to get involved! Join us as an Enscored Artist or start leaving reviews and discover your next favourite show.
See you at the next show.
