Artist Bio
JR Sharaf is the stage name for Jawad Raza, a stand-up comedian and writer from Pakistan who has recently established himself on the UK comedy scene. JR is based in Liverpool. He is also a published writer and poet.
Comedy style: His stand-up explores philosophical and existential themes, using a blend of observational humour and introspective storytelling.
Edinburgh Fringe debut: In the summer of 2025, he performed his debut solo show, titled Why Are You?! at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show explored the “absurdities of life” and questioned the “why of everything”. The show received good reviews. He was also featured on a podcast with the The Fringe Review.
Literary work: He has contributed to publications such as Other Side of the Moment. Blood, Sweat and Poems and numerous others.
Social media presence: Sharaf is active on Instagram and Threads under his stage name @jrsharaf, where he posts updates on his performances and shares his writing.

JR Sharaf is an exceptional performer. His stage presence is incredible, his material absolutely hilarious and very original. He had the audience in stitches from start to finish with his clever observations, brilliant comedic timing and quick wit. I highly recommend going to see him!

JR Sharaf is a very talented comic, who had the audience at The Casa Cabaret Show in stitches with his personal tales of misfortune. Despite being the only comedian on the bill, this didn’t daunt him. What an exciting prospect!
